Ngorongoro Wilderness Camp
This comfortable and intimate tented camp lies within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and in line with NCCA policy, may be moved periodically.
Ngorongoro Wilderness Camp is an exclusive, but simple tented camp for those not keen on large lodges and hotels.
The camp has its own style has been developed with the same ethos in mind… to concentrate on service and offer simple luxury to its discerning guests.
The location of Ngorongoro has been carefully selected, and has been designed to be eco-friendly; built in such a way so as to minimise the impact or “footprint” on the surrounding area.
Ngorongoro is a seasonal camp, moving every 3-6 months at private sites within the Ngorongoro Conservation area.
The camp comprises of ten large, comfortable, en suite tents with proper beds & quality linen.
The camp and tents are provided with solar lighting, bush showers and eco-friendly toilets. Chilly nights are taken care of with warm duvets, hot water bottles and gas heaters in the communal areas.
Professional staff are on hand to take care of your every need, and their safari chef will prepare wholesome and varied meals during your stay at the camp. Meals are served in a large central dining and communal lounge area with great views.
The well-stocked bar area is a great place to relax in the cool evenings. Maasai warriors provide security for the camp and this in turn provides them with much needed employment.
Ngorongoro offers game drives into the famous Ngorongoro Crater. You can visit Olduvai Gorge, as well as go on guided walks around the highlands. Guided walks in the Ndutu area must be pre-booked and are arranged with local Conservation Rangers and Maasai guides.
Community tours can be arranged to visit various villages for community interaction and to find out more about the local Maasai culture. You may like to support local community projects such as the building of schools, health centres, planting trees, etc.
The camp has designed some fantastic multiple day walking safaris in the Ngorongoro Conservation area, partially supported by vehicle and/or donkeys. These safaris take you from the plains of the Ndutu region, up to the highlands of Ngorongoro and Empakaai. For the very adventurous, a hike can be organised up Ol Donyo Lengai, and enjoy nearby Lake Natron. This activity is only recommended for seasoned hikers. Bird-watching is available, including fly-in safaris which combine with the Serengeti.
